See How We Make Tooth Removal Comfortable
Getting a tooth pulled is hard. I’ve only ever had my wisdom teeth taken out, and that was when I was asleep. And it’s one of those when I explain to patients that when we’re taking a tooth out, the biggest thing is we’re gonna feel a lot of pushing, there’s gonna be a lot of numbing going on. But when it comes down to restoring that space, we’re left with a lot of options. So we can look towards doing what’s called a bridge. So it’s something that connects three crowns against each other and closes that space so you have a tooth where you’re assuming to be missing one.
As well as an implant. So an implant is another great option to be able to put a fixed appliance or something that’s more permanent there so you don’t have to worry about taking it in or out. If we’re talking about missing a couple of teeth, we could be looking at doing dentures, or a removable partial denture could be a good idea as well. It’s something that you’d have to take in and out, but it does give you the ability to restore a couple of different teeth that maybe you’re missing or had the experience of having them removed that you’re looking to get back.
So there’s definitely quite a few options towards putting back teeth that we take out, but we only look towards taking out teeth really when it’s the last resort. It’s definitely not something that… I know some people would walk in and think that I would rather take out a tooth and be done with it. As much as we can, we like to save teeth. But sometimes, when it gets too far gone, a tooth is just better off to be taken out and be restored in a different way, whether that’s with the dentures, whether that’s with an implant, or a bridge, whatever the case is. But the biggest thing is making sure that someone is comfortable in the chair when we do the extractions. And I lean back on what I was saying before in that I will ask you more times, more often than not, if you’re feeling okay, and that will probably be annoying as compared to actually getting the tooth out altogether.
